Pedigree
- China pedigree requirements apply:
- The heifer’s date of birth must be shown.
- The heifer’s sire must be known and must be an AI or registered animal.
- Additional dam information should be provided where available.
- The Vendor must sign a Heifer Information Form at the time of selection.
Property of origin
- Heifers may be selected from properties in South Australia, Gippsland and the Western District of Victoria and Tasmania.
- Heifers from northern Victoria may only be selected after prior property clearance. Properties within 100km of Finley are excluded from export to China because of bovine ephemeral fever.
- The heifer’s must have been born on the property of origin and resided there since birth.
- Vendors must sign a ‘Cattle to China’ vendor declaration when completing the sale contract.
NLIS tags
- All cattle must be NLIS tagged at time of inspection.
Cattle health
- Cattle are purchased on the basis that the property of origin has clearance for export to China, the cattle are eligible for an Australian Dairy Breeding Animal Certificate, the cattle pass all required on-farm disease tests, and at the time of delivery to quarantine are healthy and fit for export.
- Cattle with a hernia, ringworm, warts or other sign of ill-health must not be presented for selection or delivered to quarantine.
- On-farm disease testing is required and will be carried out by vets nominated by Elders International, at cost to Elders International.
Conformation
- Animals will be subject to Holstein Australia True-to-Type inspection at time of entry into quarantine. Any animal failing this inspection will be rejected from the shipment at vendor risk. This is a condition of sale.
- No predominantly white or predominantly black cattle will be selected.
- Must have four white socks. No docked tails.
- Polled or cleanly dehorned cattle only.
- No spare teats. Any spare teats must be removed before selection.
Delivery
- Early March 2009. Firm details to be advised later.
Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock
- Cattle selection must comply with the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock v2.1 – Standards for the sourcing and preparation of livestock on farm.
